Abstract
Afghanistan has been the main place where the act of terrorism is on the increase such as; Nigeria, the most populous country in Africa has been confronting with odious decolouration owing to nefarious activities of some youths in the recent time. Without any scintilla of doubt, the need for proactive measures by government and its apparatus to rigorously address the menace of cyber – fraud among its youths cannot be over-emphasized. This paper therefore examines the factors responsible for the proliferation of cyber fraud among Nigerian youths; makes a conceptual summation between fraud and cyber fraud owing to the commercialisation of the internet and globalization making cyber fraud a multidimensional crime with different tributaries and also discuss some factors and the intrusive role in youths’ involvement in cybercrime. It takes a critical look at the negative impact of cyber fraud on the image of Nigeria as a country globally. The paper is a desk table research and employ descriptive and explanatory analysis. The paper concludes that the epidemic of cyber fraud in Nigeria is on the increase due to advancement in Information Communication and Technology, globalisation to mention a few. The paper recommends that the government should review the existing law against the menace and put in place effective infrastructure to monitor internet activities and partner corporate or private bodies and re-orientate the youths and citizenry on the need to avoid illicit activities that may blackmail the image of the country
